The goal of the Casbah Project is to build an open source application framework to enable the development of cool applications.

NEWS   We've released Casbah-0.1.1, the first public release of the Casbah Web application framework. You can download it from one of the mirrors, or read the Release Notes for 0.1.1. Please send feedback, bug reports, feature requests, etc. to the Core Developers mailing list.

Casbah's Lightweight Distributed Objects (LDO) protocol has been updated and is being carefully separated from Casbah so that it can be used independently.

Casbah is designed to be

• general -- a framework for building many kinds of applications
• extensible -- new features and components can be added easily
• modular -- pieces can be plugged in, at all levels, with minimal new code
• portable -- runs on many platforms
• distributed -- client/server
• script-centric -- provides a rich framework for scripters to create applications
• document-centric -- supports structured documents

We chose the name ``Casbah'' to reflect the fact that we employ the Bazaar development model , in the tradition of Linux, Apache, Perl, and others. If you want to participate in building Casbah, you can:

• read and post to the mailing lists,

• read or write some documentation,
